You don't need UT anymore to make a game with the Unreal Engine:
http://www.udk.com/ Very cool, and likely Epic's effort to fight back against Unity at the Indie and student level. In sum, what does this mean for indies? You can form a team, develop a game with the UDK, and sell the game. If you make less than 5k on the game, you don't pay Epic anything. Everything above that 5k, 25% goes to Epic. Did I really just read that you can now start and build a game using Unreal and sell it as a standalone executable for $0? Cool. If you are using Unreal as part of a company's training or offering services, the breakdown is a little different as there is a per-seat charge. But for indie game developers and modders, the choice of engine just got very clear. |

Definitely cool Epic Games remains committed to the PC platform. There are even rumors of Gears of War 2 coming to the PC.
